SeaUnicorn was started by Captain Jamin Martinelli
I have sailed over 20,000 miles aboard commercial and private vessels in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans to Hawaii, Alaska, across the country via the Panama Canal and in the Bahamas. I hold a US Coast Guard 100-ton Near Coastal masters license, PADI Dive Master, STCW, GMDSS Radio operator and TWIC

I studied fashion design 10+ years ago and have always wanted to have a line that somehow promotes humane animal treatment and conservation. I have been a vegetarian for 10 years and it really upsets me to know how inhumane some animals are treated. I began to learn a lot about sharks a year an half ago when I started at JASA. I've been a diver since 2004 and use to be deathly afraid of sharks. I believed, like many people, sharks to be mindless sea monsters that attack people and eat anything. By having these beliefs I did not care to learn that sharks are a vital part of the marine ecosystem and are being fished nearly to extinction. I spend 3-5 hours a day face to face with up to 40 sharks and never feel in danger for my life. I am truly convinced that sharks do not see people as a food source and would like everyone to know sharks do not prey on people and they need to be protected
.
I designed Sharkinis, because I think a statement can be made with the clothes we wear. I began to make my own designs for suits that I would like to wear and the Sharkini was born. All of my designs are from images I have taken. The tiger shark on 4 of my suits is “emma” a 14-ft female tiger that is sweet natured and seems to pose for the photographers. I hope that these suits strike conversations about sharks and I hope the knowledge that I promote about sharks will build an army who will defend them. This is why I include a leaflet with the sharkini with some interesting facts and pictures that I've taken.
